St. Pauls have been providing dental implants for over 20 years – with an outstanding success rate, thanks to our expertise and using the best available equipment, materials and techniques. We’re at the cutting edge of implantology and have been the first to introduce a number of new procedures.
Implants are now commonly used to replace missing teeth and there have been many studies showing very high success rates of 90-95%. They are often a better alternative to dentures or bridges.
Over thirty years ago Professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark discovered the process of osseointegration which describes the process a titanium implant goes through when it is placed in the jawbone. After healing the implant becomes surrounded by live healthy bone and as it is completely rigid it can be used to support teeth.
Implants can be used to replace a single tooth or a full set of teeth. Adequate bone must be available into which implants can be placed and this can be assessed by examination or using X-Rays. We have a state of the art Cone Beam CT machine which gives us highly accurate 3D images allowing us to plan which implant is best and exactly where it should be placed.
In order to replace a single tooth you will need one implant, but you will not need an implant for each tooth. For example three teeth could be placed on two implants or a full lower set of twelve teeth will need four implants or a full set of twelve upper teeth will need six implants.
They do not affect other teeth in the way that removable dentures do and no damage is done to adjacent teeth as is the case when fixed bridges are constructed.
20 Years of experience with dental implants.
The practice has a long history of providing dental implants for our patients and has always been at the cutting edge of implantology being the first to introduce a number of new procedures.
Over the last 20 years we have helped thousands of patients often providing treatment which has dramatically improved their quality of life.
A recently completed audit of over 2000 implants placed at St. Pauls Dental Care has shown a survival rate of more than 96% so we know dental implants are a safe, predictable and long lasting solution to the problems of missing teeth.
Computer guided implant placement
It is now possible to generate a 3 dimensional virtual model of the jaw using a CT scan. The placement of implants can then be planned with great accuracy.
This means that the implant placement can be carried out with incredible precision and very safely. It can be likened to keyhole surgery in that there are no stitches and healing is quicker with less chance of infection and reduced postoperative discomfort.
Although this is not suitable in all cases it can be invaluable in cases with limited bone volume and can allow implant placement in areas previously thought to have insufficient bone.
Our team of dental nurses and dental technicians have trained extensively using the latest equipment and techniques and are here to help.

“I would like to personally thank you for your patience and professional guidance during my dental surgery.
My original teeth were not the most shapely, which did not encourage me to smile during conversations or even when being photographed.
Now I can tell a different story. After your help and guidance, I now have a beautiful set of teeth, which has changed my life. I am a much happier person and enjoy smiling for the first time in a long time.”
