Dentistry for nervous patients
Treatment for nervous patients focuses on creating a calm, supportive environment for individuals who experience anxiety or fear around dental care. This approach may include gentle communication, relaxation techniques, and tailored treatment plans designed to build trust and ease discomfort. For some, it can also involve sedation options or certified phobia-trained professionals who specialise in helping patients feel safe and confident throughout their visit.
What is IV Sedation?
It is a technique used to reduce anxiety during a dental treatment. The sedation agent is administered through a simple injection in the back of the hand or forearm via a small cannula.
The sedative agent acts quickly and once it has taken affect and you are feeling sufficiently relaxed, the treatment is started.
The patient feels drowsy; in fact many patients do not remember anything about their treatment. At the end of treatment the patient will be allowed to recover and when ready be discharged home with their escort.
If there is any further information about the availability and cost of this service please contact the team.
Who needs sedation?
There are varying levels of sedation dentistry based on your unique needs. Factors include your level of anxiety, the length of your procedure, your health history and personal preferences. Here at St. Pauls we provide (IV) sedation and this is only suitable for adults.
